Today I’m going to be researching into filming roles. To be make our shooting day go smoothly we are going to allocate filming roles to each member of our group.
The roles we will be allocating are....
Director – responsible for overseeing actors and other filming roles to ensure everything is organised.
Camera person – In charge of operating the camera, should be familiar with story boarding and shot list.
Art Director – In charge of location, costumes, makeup and ensuring all of these elements are organised ready for filming day. They are also in charge of making sure the continuity of opening sequence is kept.
Producer – The producers oversees all aspects on filming day. They are also normally in charge of outside organisation and budgets
Saskia, strengths – Communication, creativity, inventive
Danny, strengths – Organised, film geek
Sienna, strengths – Leadership, collaborative
We have tried to apply our strengths to a role that would suit us best.
Saskia – Camera operator
Danny- Editor
Sienna – Director
Saskia, Danny, Sienna – Producer / DOA (Director of Art)
It is important to remember that even though we have our own roles that we all need to work collaboratively and as a team. Then again to ensure that we have captured the tone and the thriller genre conventions correctly it is important that each person suits their role and uses their strengths within that role to have an easy shooting day.
As the director I will be instructing the actors and ensure everything is organised and ready for shooting day. The director is important because they are in charge of keeping the creative vision while making sure other roles are working productivity.
Before the shoot I need to ensure..
- all the actors are aware of the filming date and times. I need to email Hannah, Ted and Raffie.
-That all the costumes/set/props are organised
- The story board and shot list are clear
- Organise timings like when we break for lunch etc.
On shoot day..
Bring printed story boards and shot lists
All props
I think at times it can be difficult to keep everyone on track, I feel as a director it is my responsibility to make sure we stay productive.
