Film Industry - Disney

                                  Disney

Disney started in 1923 by Walt Disney and Roy. O. Disney. Walt Disney and his brother Roy, started creating animated movies in which they called Alice Comedies. Over time the brothers developed their company as they got more popular. Not long later the creation of Oswald the lucky rabbit was invented, universal studios gained control of the character and Disney was forced to start again. This is where the famous Micky Mouse was brought to life, and because of their huge success with this character then followed Donald duck, Goofy and Pluto. Disney renamed the company to Walt Disney where he began to make full length feature films such as snow white and seven dwarfs. Soon enough the company took flight and started opening Disney theme parks, buying other studios and essentially growing to become one of the biggest companies in the world.

Disney tends to use similar, well-known actors. Disney invests in A list, worldwide actors because they know that will increase sales.  When Disney started buying up film companies, they didn’t take over them, they actually kept everyone already working there in place. This was a clever move because the success of the film companies carried on, they grew bigger with the financial help from Disney. I would say that Disney generally keeps their directors the same.

The big advantage to Disney is they reach an international audience. They do this by using worldwide marketing, paying for A list world celebrities, incorporating hybrid genres and having worldwide locations and languages. They can do this because of how wealthy the company is. Disney own so many other companies that they can afford to take risks, and if something flops it's not a problem because they can just borrow money from their other branches, such as theme parks, Disney plus etc. Because Disney own so many film companies, they can include all their films onto Disney plus. This appeals to a wider audience. You have Disney animation for kids, but you also have all the Marvel films which attracts teenagers as well as adults, Disney even attract older generations with documentaries by National Geographic.

Disney Quote - "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them."
